At Nord Anglia International School we are keen for our students to be environmentally aware and take opportunities to recycle as much as possible. Sustainability Week was a great opportunity to help us share this message with our students and who attended an assembly focused on reducing plastic use. The children were inspired to ask questions, which led to some great conversations in class and some children even produced their own posters independently, which helped embed their understanding of the importance of this topic.
In addition to this initiative, we ran a 'lights out' event in school where the children experienced a moment to reflect on the use of electricity within our day to day. They loved taking turns to be the lights-out monitor in the classroom! We continued this after Sustainability Week to keep reminding the children about our electricity use.
Another fun recycling activity at Nord Anglia in Al Khor has been to build paper recycling boxes! These boxes proved to be very popular and continue to be used on a daily basis in each classroom.
Students were proud to have been awarded a Certificate for their participation in Sustainability Week:-)
