A group of students recently embarked on an immersive trip to Japan, diving deep into the culture, language, and innovation that define modern-day Tokyo. Their journey began with a cultural orientation alongside local students, where they practised basic Japanese phrases and learned key etiquette tips—an essential step in understanding the deeply rooted customs of Japanese society. This was followed by a visit to the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, where the group explored Japan’s cutting-edge advancements in robotics, space exploration, and sustainable technology. The day ended on a high note with some shopping and a sushi dinner overlooking Tokyo's dazzling night skyline.
On their second day, the group experienced a different side of Tokyo with a visit to a serene forest shrine nestled in the city’s heart. The peaceful surroundings offered a stark contrast to the fast-paced urban life, showing Tokyo’s unique ability to blend nature and modernity. Later, they ventured into the bustling neighborhoods of Harajuku and Shibuya, famous for their fashion, street culture, and of course, the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing. A traditional yakiniku dinner provided a flavourful end to a day full of discovery and energy.

The final day of their Tokyo adventure took the group through the lively streets of the Tsukiji Fish Market, where the sights and scents of fresh seafood created an unforgettable sensory experience. From there, the students explored Akihabara, the neon-lit district known as the hub of electronics, gaming, and anime culture. The trip wrapped up with a diverse twist—a dinner at an Indian restaurant, reflecting Tokyo’s vibrant international culinary scene and the group’s adventurous spirit throughout their journey.
