Welcome to the New School Year!
A new academic year is always filled with fresh hopes, new routines, and exciting opportunities. Whether your child is just beginning their NAISAK journey or returning for another year, this time can feel both energising and a little overwhelming.
At NAISAK, we believe in the power of a strong triangular relationship between parents, students, and teachers. When we work together, we build a foundation where children not only thrive academically but grow into confident, kind, and curious individuals.
Here are our top five tips to help you support your child through a successful and fulfilling school year at NAISAK:
1. Establish a Consistent Routine
Children feel safe and perform better when their day has structure. Establishing regular morning and bedtime routines, setting boundaries for screen time, and creating a predictable homework schedule can make a big difference.
Don’t forget the basics: sleep, nutrition, and downtime are essential for learning.
“We started setting bedtime alarms and planning lunchboxes the night before – the mornings are so much smoother now,” said a Year 3 parent.
2. Stay Connected with the School
Communication is key! Make full use of platforms like the NAISAK App, ClassDojo, Microsoft Teams, and our weekly newsletter to stay informed.
Get involved by attending school events, coffee mornings, or joining the Parent Committee. These connections help you feel part of the school community and show your child that their education matters to you.
“I never miss the Thursday newsletter—it tells me what my children achieved this week, and the coffee mornings are such a great way to connect with other parents,” shares Ms. Al Muhannadi, parent of two NAISAK students.
3. Create a Positive Learning Environment at Home
Support your child’s learning by setting up a quiet, clutter-free space for homework. Make learning fun by encouraging reading, asking open-ended questions, and exploring interests together as a family.
Remember to celebrate effort, not just results—it builds resilience and confidence.
“My daughter was nervous about maths, but we turned it into a fun game at home. Now, she looks forward to it!” says Ms. Aisha, mum of another student.
4. Encourage Independence and Responsibility
Whether it’s packing their own school bag or choosing their outfit for the day, giving children age-appropriate responsibilities builds confidence and life skills.
Support them in learning how to manage their time, set goals, and solve small problems independently.
“I let my son decide the order of his homework tasks. He’s proud of managing his time, and I’ve seen a real boost in his confidence,” notes Mrs. Farah, parent of a Year 7 student.
5. Support Social and Emotional Wellbeing
A child’s mental health is just as important as their academic success. Make time to talk about feelings, friendships, and how to handle tough moments. Encourage kindness, resilience, and positive self-talk.
Watch for any signs of anxiety or stress and reach out if you need support. NAISAK’s teachers and pastoral team are always here to help.
“When my child felt left out in class, the school was so responsive. They helped her feel seen and supported,” shares a parent of a Year 4 student.
Every child’s journey is unique. As parents, your role is not to have all the answers, but to walk alongside your child—offering encouragement, patience, and love.
Remember, NAISAK is more than a school. It’s a community of support, ready to partner with you every step of the way.
“Together, we can help our children reach heights they never thought possible.”
Wishing you and your family a joyful, inspiring, and successful school year ahead!
