NAISAK Students Demonstrate Confidence and Skill in Ignited Mind Maths Competition

Discover how NAISAK students built confidence, problem-solving skills, and teamwork through the Ignited Mind Maths Competition, showcasing a dynamic approach to learning and academic excellence.

Students at NAISAK participated this week in the Ignited Mind Maths Competition, held virtually across both Primary and Secondary sections of the school. The event provided an opportunity for pupils to engage in challenging mathematical tasks while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a collaborative setting.

Teachers noted a high level of enthusiasm among Primary students, many of whom approached the competition with positive attitudes and a willingness to take on new challenges. The virtual format allowed students to experience a different style of learning, encouraging independence while maintaining a sense of shared participation across year groups.

Secondary students also took part in their own round of the competition, where they demonstrated strong analytical thinking and teamwork. Staff observed that students were able to apply their classroom knowledge in unfamiliar contexts, highlighting the value of such events in extending learning beyond traditional lessons.

The competition builds on a growing culture of academic enrichment at the school. Last year, NAISAK’s Year 7 cohort participated in the Ignited Mind Lab Mathematics Competition, where students including Bader Al-Fahad, Kavish Bhatt, Aaron Mathew, Faizal Mohd, Rifqy Ahmad, Ilham Firdaus, Eshaal Imran and Francesca Rubio represented the school.

Participants reflected on the experience as both challenging and rewarding. One student recalled feeling nervous at the outset but gaining confidence as the competition progressed, while another noted that the event encouraged new ways of thinking and problem-solving.

Certificates have since been awarded to recognise students’ efforts and achievements. Staff emphasised that the competition was not solely about correct answers, but about perseverance, resilience, and the confidence to engage with complex problems.

School leaders highlighted the importance of initiatives such as the Ignited Mind Maths Competition in supporting student development. By providing opportunities to apply knowledge in dynamic contexts, the school aims to foster well-rounded learners equipped with the skills needed for future academic success.

The event reflects NAISAK’s continued commitment to delivering a stimulating and supportive learning environment, an approach that remains central to the school’s admissions ethos for prospective families.
