There was something extra special in the air at NAISAK as students across the school came together to celebrate World Book Day. From colourful costumes in EYFS and Primary to creative storytelling projects in Secondary, the day highlighted the school’s strong culture of reading, imagination and student engagement.
In EYFS and Primary, classrooms and corridors were filled with beloved book characters as students proudly arrived dressed as their favourites. The excitement sparked conversations about reading, storytelling and favourite books throughout the day. “I liked dressing up because it felt like I was actually in the story,” shared a Year 4 student.
Teachers also reflected on the positive impact of the celebration. “You could see how much this meant to them—it made reading feel real and personal,” said one Primary teacher.
Meanwhile, Secondary students explored literature in a different way through silent reading, discussions and creative storyboard activities inspired by their favourite books. Students worked collaboratively to reimagine stories and share recommendations with their peers, showcasing both creativity and critical thinking.
“It was great to see secondary students take ownership of stories they love and recommend them to their peers,” commented a Secondary staff member.
NAISAK Principal Mr. Kevin Ferry, praised the enthusiasm shown across the campus:
“World Book Day brought a strong sense of fun and participation with a literacy focus across the campus. Students engaged fully, whether through dressing as characters, taking part in reading activities, or simply sharing their interest in books with others. Promoting reading remains a key priority for us, not only because of its academic importance, but because it supports curiosity, imagination and independent thinking.”
The celebration reinforced NAISAK’s commitment to building a lifelong love of reading and creating meaningful learning experiences that inspire students both inside and outside the classroom.
