The Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Qatar History Department at NAISAK is celebrating a remarkable achievement after receiving a Gold Award from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for its outstanding participation in the “My Values Shape My Identity” national campaign.
The award recognizes a year of dedication, creativity, and teamwork from students and teachers across the department, who worked together to explore, implement, and showcase the values promoted through the Ministry’s initiatives. From classroom activities and student projects to community engagement and exhibitions, the department embraced the campaign's message of strengthening identity and character.
The campaign, now in its second edition, is part of a nationwide project running from 2024 to 2027. It focuses on five key initiatives: Aseel, which strengthens Islamic and national identity; Fitrah, which promotes sound values and common sense; Ikhaa’, which raises awareness about brotherhood and anti-bullying; Nafsik Amanah, which encourages healthy and responsible choices; and Safe Sailing, which teaches students how to navigate the digital world safely.
Speaking about the achievement, Head of Department Ms. Asil Adwan expressed immense pride in the department’s efforts. “I am really, really proud,” she said. “This Gold Award is an achievement, but we should be proud of everything from the beginning of this journey until now. It is the start of something new, and we will continue to work, grow, and help students understand their identity and values.”
Ms. Asil highlighted the importance of the campaign not only within schools but across Qatar, noting that ministries, institutions, and communities are all working together to promote these values among young people. She also praised the growing involvement of parents and the wider school community throughout the year. A special tribute was paid to Ms. Heba Ali, who led the campaign at NAISAK. According to Ms. Asil, Ms. Heba’s leadership was instrumental in the department’s success.
“At the beginning, she was hesitant and wondered if she could lead it,” Ms. Asil recalled. “But I told her she could do it. I am proud of Ms. Heba because she believed in herself, put in the effort, and did an excellent job. The whole team worked together, and that is why we achieved Gold.”
Reflecting on the award, Ms. Heba expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project. “We first extend our thanks to the parents and students who supported the initiative and created many wonderful projects, some of which were displayed at the exhibition,” she said. “Our thanks also go to all the Arabic teachers for their commitment and for bringing the values to life inside their classrooms. We were truly one team, and, Alhamdulillah, that is why we received the Gold Medal.”
Ms. Heba described the moment of receiving the award as a source of great pride.
“We all felt tremendous joy,” she said. “It is something special for our school to receive a Gold Award for values, especially when so many ministries and institutions across Qatar are participating in this initiative.”
She also admitted that leading the campaign was challenging at first. “At the beginning, I felt nervous and unsure if I could manage such a responsibility,” she shared. “But with the support of Ms. Asil and my colleagues, we succeeded together. Receiving the certificate alongside Ministry officials was a moment of great happiness for all of us.”
Throughout the year, students demonstrated the campaign’s values through a range of creative projects. Ms. Heba highlighted initiatives such as the “Little Mu'adhin” project, mosque-themed activities, and the kindergarten project “I Am the Future Doctor,” all of which reflected students’ enthusiasm and understanding of the values being taught.
Looking ahead, the department is already setting its sights higher. Having earned Gold this year, the team is now aiming for the Diamond Award in the next stage of the campaign. With the same determination, teamwork, and commitment to nurturing students’ identity and values, the Arabic and Islamic Studies Department is ready for the challenge. As Ms. Heba confidently concluded, “Our aspirations are for Diamond next year, Insha’Allah.”
