Exciting News: Welcoming Marina, Our New Head Librarian - NAS Abu Dhabi Hosts Global Educators to Shape the Future of Teaching

Exciting News: Welcoming Marina, Our New Head Librarian

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of our exceptional new Head Librarian, who brings a revolutionary vision to transform our libraries into launchpads for possibility!

A Recognised Leader in Her Field

With over 20 years of experience spanning the UK and UAE, our new librarian arrives with an extraordinary track record of innovation and student empowerment. Most recently honoured as the 2025 UAE School Librarian of the Year and recipient of the 2024 Best in Community Engagement Award from the Emirates Literature Foundation, she brings internationally recognised expertise to our learning community. Her reputation as an exceptional librarian is built on innovation, inclusion, and a deep belief that libraries are launchpads for possibility – spaces where students discover that their ideas can shape the world.

From London to Abu Dhabi

Marina’s career began in London with the Museums, Libraries and Archives Strategic Agency, followed by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education, where she designed frameworks for inclusive learning. With a Master’s in Library and Information Services, and published research from Swansea University, she developed algorithms to improve access to knowledge and learning services.

In Abu Dhabi, she has spent over a decade leading award-winning, research-informed initiatives that connect literature to sustainability, citizenship, and global awareness. Her programmes have inspired communities and set new benchmarks for student-centred learning.

As the founder of the Around the Emirates Reading Challenge, Marina created a programme now recognised internationally as a model for global engagement. Her vision blends reading with citizenship, technology, and community – and her initiatives also promote national identity, sustainability, social cohesion, and essential life skills, ensuring that every student connects their learning to the real world.

What This Means for NAS Abu Dhabi

‘In our library, you are not just readers. You are researchers, creators, leaders and change-makers. Get ready to explore, connect, and imagine beyond limits. Reading will take you everywhere.’ – Marina

With three purpose-built libraries – for Early Years, Primary, and Secondary – NAS Abu Dhabi already provides vibrant spaces for exploration and dialogue. Under Marina’s leadership, these libraries will continue to grow as:

  • Spaces that ignite ideas and connect cultures
  • Hubs for critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration
  • Launchpads for student innovation and leadership
  • Community centres that bring students, parents, and staff together

Marina’s appointment reflects our commitment to attracting world-class educators who share our vision: Leading the way… empowering everyone to be extraordinary. – Marina

“I am thrilled to join a dynamic learning community where innovation, inclusion and imagination come together. I am here to transform perceptions of what a library can be, a space that ignites ideas, connects cultures and prepares students for a future that demands adaptability, empathy and critical thinking.”

We look forward to an exciting new chapter for our libraries.
