Dear Parents and Students
Thank you to our Parent Teacher Friends Association (PTFA) for their generous donation of a play kitchen for our Foundation Stage students.
You should have received a copy of our Strategic Development Plan, which sets out our ambitious goals over the coming years. A key area in our plan is working with community and looking at how we communicate. We introduced a text message system at the end of the first term, which had limited success. We are pleased to say that the company we are working with has fixed the initial problems we experienced from the set-up and it is now working properly. We are now sending text messages home for students who are not at school in the morning. Students are meant to be in class by 07:20 for the registration period. Any students who have not registered by 07:40 are marked absent and a text message is sent home informing parents that this is the case. Should a child be late in the morning, we ask that they register at the office to ensure we update our records so we do not send a message home for any students who are actually at school but have not reached their class’s registration period in time.
In addition to using a text message system, we are now sending letters home electronically, which will not only save paper but also eliminate the problem of letters getting misplaced in the bottom of students’ bags. The exception to this will be when we need the letter to be signed and returned. In this instance, we will also send a hard copy home with students.
Moving forward, we will be introducing a NAISAK app in the coming weeks. This will allow the entire community to have access to pertinent information about the school on your mobile devices. More information is provided by Mr Kendall below.
As we aspire to improve the way we communicate with parents, I welcome any feedback that you have to offer. Should you have any suggestions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me at david.pontich@nais.qa.
