Global Campus

In last week’s assembly we introduced the students to the newly updated Global Campus site from Nord Anglia Education. Each of the students in Years 4-6 were given a passport to help them navigate the Primary area of the site. Year 3 have access to the under 8s section of the Global Campus site. In there they will find information on exciting things that are happening across our schools, competitions, message boards and more. All students can access the Global Campus site from the link on their Moodle home page.

The first big competition of the year, which was launched at the end of last year, was the Global Campus Photographer of the Year. Around 10 STA KS2 students entered this competition and we were very lucky to have two students whose entries were highly commended by the judges. They will both have their photos appear in the 2017 Global Campus calendar. Well done to Indy and Naoto from Y6.

The next competition for students to enter is the Global Campus Short Story Competition. The theme for this year is Fan Fiction. Students will need to click on the enter button to be able to download the official template for entering the competition. Further details of the competition and some tips on writing fan fiction can be found on the Global Campus site. Successful writers will have their work published in the NAE short story anthology at the end of the year.

Sustainability Week

Last week, everyone in the key stage was involved in a range of activities to spread the message of sustainability. We had year 3 swapping old books, Year 4 spreading their knowledge of the plight of orangutans, Year 5 learning all about growing pumpkins and Year 6 designing recycling bins for the school. There was lots of hard work and interesting discussions taking place across KS2 and hopefully everyone has taken on board how we can work together to look after our fragile planet.

Ms Kiyomi organised the Japanese Fair, along with Mr Ewen and the school council, which aimed to raise money for the conservation of the Spoon Billed Sandpiper. We’re very pleased to announce that 7579 Baht was raised for this great cause. Well done to everyone involved in making the items for sale and to everyone who came along and bought something.

Vertical Garden House Competition

The house competition to design a vertical garden is still open for entries. The closing date for this is Friday 18th November. Get your entries to Mr Geoff or Ms Jane by the end of the day on Friday. Remember, the theme is recycling, so you need to show us some great uses for old/unwanted products.
