I obtained a degree in Biological Sciences in 2003 from the University of Liverpool. After working in the medical field for 2 years, I completed a PGCE, qualifying as a Biology teacher. I began teaching in 2007 and have since worked in many different schools since then. In 2019, I completed the OLEVI accredited Outstanding Teachers Programme.
I was an exam marker for GCSE Biology and A Level Biology examination boards, and have been marking exam papers for IB Biology since 2017, all of which have allowed me to gain expert knowledge and insight into what answers are required. Prior to moving to STA, I was working as a Biology teacher in the NAE school BIS Budapest, from 2017 to 2020. I first joined the NAE team back in 2015, working at BIS Bratislava as a Science teacher.
Between working in Bratislava and Budapest, I worked as Head of Grade 8 (Head of Year 9) and Biology teacher at an international school in Shanghai, China. I like to apply Biology to real life situations and regularly try to create fun and interactive ways for students to learn. I am ambitious for my students to succeed and believe in allowing the students to take the lead in their learning.
I am a keen biologist with an interest in medicine and how the human body works. I love to travel and experience new things, and want to visit as many different countries as possible. In my spare time, I enjoy attending gym classes, doing charity runs, participating in cultural events and treating myself to the odd spa treatment!
it is a fully inclusive school with a focus on making sure students (and staff) are happy.
