I gained my teaching qualification in Auckland, NZ.
I am from New Zealand and moved to Thailand in 1989. Soon after arriving, I began teaching in a large British international school and spent 30 wonderful years there, teaching Years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
I also worked from 2014-2020, in all of these year groups, as an Extended Learning teacher, providing in-class support or withdrawing high achieving students to be extended. There were many highlights, and one, in particular, was the opportunity to teach project-based learning.
The students were focused, engaged and enthusiastic about pursuing a passion and solving a real world problem. They were keen to make a difference - and they certainly did! The fact that they could take ownership of their learning and use expert resources within the community made a real impact.
I simply facilitated the learning. My hobbies include travel, music, cooking and keeping fit. A lot of my spare time is spent in the gym or swimming pool.
students, teachers, support staff and business staff are always positive and happy. It is clear they feel valued, safe and supported within the school. It is a happy environment to work in and I look forward to the year ahead.
"Ms Keri likes to stretch our brains and make these grow by challenging us and ensuring we are not completing tasks that are too easy. She believes that mistakes are good, that we can learn from these. On many occasions she is tickled pink with our learning but always looks for growth and next steps in our individual journeys. Ms Keri is always positive and kind."
