Staff Profile: Mr Joshua

Josh

PE Teacher and Head of Year 10

I graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc and a PGCE (Physical Education) in 2015 and taught in the United Kingdom (Leicestershire) for four years. In 2019 I relocated to Myanmar to take up a position at British School Yangon, and in 2021 I joined St Andrews International School Bangkok. I have held many additional responsibilities throughout my career, including Head of House in the UK; Head of Sixth Form and Head of Department at British School Yangon; and Head of Year at St Andrews International School Bangkok.

I am enthusiastic about using educational research, cognitive science and instructional models to improve teaching, learning and assessment, and I completed an MSc (Education) in 2018 to further my knowledge and understanding. I am interested in student well-being and holistic development, particularly how adventure-based school trips and expeditions can foster leadership, trust, collaboration, confidence, and resilience by providing students with a range of challenges and experiences in the wider community and wider world.

My personal interests include sport, travel, the outdoors, and lifelong physical activity. I thoroughly enjoy participating in lots of exercise and activities, including hiking, cycling, rugby, climbing, scuba diving and skiing.

St Andrews understands and puts a large emphasis on the impact that lifelong physical activity and a healthy lifestyle have on its student's (and staff!) well-being, morale and holistic development.
