Year 5 Trip to Ayutthaya A residential visit to Ayutthaya has Year 5 students learning about living in a community.

Last week Year 5 showed their independence and adventure on our residential visit to Ayutthaya. We spent three days living on a barge where we all had to live as part of a community.

We worked together completing a series of tasks such as cleaning the decks, cooking and navigating. It was amazing to see how the children all took an active role in their daily jobs and enjoyed completing them. It was like watching Mary Poppins seeing the children changing these tasks into fun and games!

We immersed ourselves in our current topics of Ayutthaya and rivers. Due to the public holiday, we had a slight change of plan and visited the Japanese village, much to the delight of our Japanese children. We visited temples and the gold museum and the children learnt all about the war with Burma and the fall of Ayutthaya. The children put themselves in the role of people in Ayutthaya and the time and wrote about how they would feel during the invasion and created role plays.

All children represented the school well and truly made us proud. They were exceptionally well behaved and took part in every activity with enthusiasm.
