A Celebration of Simon’s Life was held this past week...Updates on our plans for High School International Day this Friday and Winter Carnival on 10th December.

It was great to see so students, parents, ex-students, ex-parents and teachers at last week’s Celebration of the life of Simon Lawrence, and to spend time time talking and laughing about Simon together, celebrating his life and how much he meant to us all.

This week we are building up to our first International Day in our new High School. Last year, groups of students, in Houses, but containing students from Year 7 to Year 13, worked together to explore, and then portray, the eleven ‘What Makes a Great St Andrews Community?’ qualities, with some fantastic logos, mimes and spoken word poems created during the day.

This year, students will spend the morning working in groups in preparation for an International Sustainable Fashion Show taking place in the afternoon, with each of the Houses both creating Sustainable Fashion, using a range of recycled items that they are provided with, and International Fashion, as we challenge the students to really think about what they wear on the day, and how it represents their country/region/culture.

The school’s Sustainability Group has asked the students to bring in the following items, which will be recycled into some amazing Sustainable Fashion: Newspapers/magazines, plastic bottles, bottle caps and scraps of coloured paper or card.

Please see what you have at home and encourage your son/daughter to bring this in to be reused, in a very creative way, before it is recycled - there are collection boxes just inside the entrance turnstiles.

Unfortunately, I will not be in school on Friday, as I will be at the British International School in Ho Chi Minh City for the NAE South-East Asia Child Protection and Safeguarding Conference.

Ms Lisa (CAS Coordinator) and Mr Jason (House Leader) met with Debbie (coordinator for our NEW school charity) last week to finalise the arrangements for the upcoming Winter Carnival that we will be hosting here at STA High School on Sunday 10th December (Please see the House/CAS section of the Newsletter for more details).

Please e-mail Ms Lisa (lisa.me@standrews.ac.th) or Mr Jason (jason.wh@standrews.ac.th) if you would like to donate snacks or raffle prizes, volunteer to help out on the day, perform in the show in the evening or if you have any questions about this event.
