It’s always a joy to have an excuse to look at and read any book by Roald Dahl. On Thursday we celebrated what would have been the great man’s 102nd birthday by reminding ourselves of some of his most popular books and enjoying a few activities to celebrate.

Library Monitors

Our Library Monitor training took place during Thursday lunchtime and all the new recruits are now eager and ready to help out with checking books and games in/out, locating books on the shelves and re-shelving, generally keeping the Library tidy and helping their peers and the younger children to fully enjoy the library space.

Book Fair: Save the Date

Our next Book Fair will take place during the week commencing 26 November and we invite you to start letting us have any books - in good condition please - for our popular Used Book sale which will take place throughout the week. More details of which bookstores/vendors will be attending during the week and which charity we will be supporting with the sale of used books will be coming soon.

Competition Time: Design a Poster

We are looking for some students who would like to showcase their creative talent and skills to design a poster for the Library wall. The freshly-painted long wall in the Early Years corner is looking a bit empty, as you can see from the photo below, and so we would like to decorate it with the children’s artwork.

We have decided to run a competition for all age groups to design a poster which shows their favourite book or book character. We would like this to be as colourful as possible and created on white A4 size paper. All entrants will receive house points and their designs will go forward for judging. The winners will see their work turned into beautiful large format posters which will be displayed on the Library wall for everyone to see. How exciting!

Please encourage your children to come and talk to us in the Primary School Library about how they can take part in this fun activity which can be worked on both in the Library and at home. Closing date for entries will be Friday 28 September.
