During the month of October, art students from Years 7 to 9 were able to create beautiful artworks for homework, using ink, for the online challenge of “Inktober”

Every October, artists all over the world take on the Inktober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day for the entire month. The artists respond to daily prompts, such as Spell, Exhausted and Drooling then share their masterpieces on social media using the hashtag #inktober. The month-long challenge is designed to encourage anyone to pick up drawing as a daily practice, with the pen being the most readily available media. Conceived by Utah-based illustrator Jake Parker in 2009 as a way to improve his own inking skills, the drawing challenge has now been taken on by tens of thousands of artists around the world, and over 12 million artworks have been posted on Instagram alone. At St Andrews International School Bangkok, we challenged our KS3 students to join the challenge, by responding to one of the Inktober 2018 prompts. Here are some of the wonderful results.

Artist of the Week

This week our ‘Artist of the Week’ award goes to Aidan in Year 7. For “Inktober” Aidan created a detailed and colourful ink drawing of a desolate and scorched landscape. The work is creatively detailed with a serious environmental message!
