Students are supported academically, socially and emotionally by our qualified school counselor. The counselor provides support to all Early Learning through Grade 6 students, parents, teachers and staff. Individual, small group and classroom counseling are some of the counseling services available to students.
The counselor works closely with the Admissions Office to transition students successfully into our school. He or she assists students and their families as they exit our school to pursue their studies elsewhere. The counselor works closely with administrators, the English as an Additional Language (EAL) teachers and SEN teacher as well as the coordinators of the academic programmes to support students who may need additional guidance.
At the primary level, the counselor works with teachers, students and parents to promote healthy development of children. The counselor collaborates with teachers to provide personal and social education often connecting with the classroom Units of Inquiry.
Students and parents can make an appointment to meet with the counselor as needed. Teachers can make referrals to the counselors when there are concerns regarding behavior, social, mental, or physical student needs.
Outside Resources
The Principal, counselor, and teachers work closely together to determine available outside resources that may help students who need speech therapy, testing services, hearing tests, professional counseling or other support. Services for students will be at the parent’s expense. The school will assist in arranging this referral, if necessary.
