We recently received the very exciting news that three of our students have won special awards for their exceptional performances in last summer's Pearson Edexcel IGCSE examinations — ahead of 70,000 students globally. The Pearson Outstanding Learner Awards recognise students who have achieved the highest marks in subjects in their country or across the whole world.
On Monday 20 November, The British International School Shanghai, Puxi celebrated World Children's Day. This UNICEF initiative holds special significance, as we at BISS Puxi strive to create an inclusive environment in which every child feels valued and empowered. We are excited to bring you the latest news about an outstanding achievement by one of our Year 12 students, Jieun Lee. She has significantly supported and designed each of the four house logos (Air, Fire, Water and Earth) that will now be used throughout the school. These logos have been created with utmost care and thought, and we feel that they perfectly represent the spirit and identity of each house.

As we continue to prioritise our students’ holistic development, we are excited to share insights into our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) initiative and how we teach this crucial subject in the Primary School. PSHE is more than just another subject on the curriculum; it is a holistic approach to preparing our learners for life in the modern world by equipping them with the skills, knowledge and resilient mindset needed to successfully navigate life’s challenges and possibilities to contribute positively to society.
On Friday 26 April, Year 9 students were taken on an interactive, immersive and educational experience, in which they were able to take an A – Z look at chocolate production, taking them from bean to bar!
Year 9 students and a very brave Year 12 embarked on a new adventure on the 25 April. Accompanied by two members of the French department, they explored the Former French Concession around Fuxing Park to discover the history and some of the stories of the time when the French thought they could, perhaps settle, in Shanghai.
The BISS Ball, held at the W Hotel in Shanghai, was a dazzling affair, combining elegance with purpose. As guests entered the venue, they were greeted by the enchanting ambience that set the tone for a fantastic fundraising evening.
This year’s NAE-UNICEF Student Summit will take place in Houston, Texas, from 12 to 19 June 2024. We are thrilled to announce that the following three students have been selected to represent BISS Puxi at the summit: Tianyu, Jaeyoon and Salma!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new House Captains for the Secondary School. The four House Captains were carefully selected as representatives of the different elements and demonstrated values that we believe are important for our students to embody. These captains will be working closely with our House Coordinator, Mr. Hywel Ward, to organise house events, encourage participation, and ultimately create a strong sense of pride within each house.
As part of the Key Stage 3 pastoral programme, each pupil was tasked to prepare a speech on a topic they were passionate about. This activity took place during form time within the first term. Pupils chose a diverse array of topics ranging from sports and hobbies to global hot topics such as ‘Artificial Intelligence’, ‘Plastic – The issue’, ‘Invest in your Sleep’ and ‘Anxiety’.

Year 2 embarked on a captivating six-week journey to Evergreen Farm, immersing themselves in hands-on agricultural experiences. The programme aimed to educate students about farming practices, foster appreciation for nature, and cultivate essential life skills.
