NAE Codathon

Coding - Coding
BSG team Dia secured the second place

This is the first time this competition has taken place, and it was set up to showcase the coding talents of primary students. We traveled to The British School of Beijing, Shunyi, where we competed against three other schools. We had four teams, named the Coding Carrots, AI Intelligence, Dia, and BSG Bratz. The points among all the BSG teams were very close, but team Dia emerged as the victors and secured second place. The team 'Code 4' from Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong were the overall winners and secured first place.

Coding - Coding

During the competition, the students showcased their understanding of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of 'Sustainable Cities and Communities'. Their imagination and creativity were outstanding. If you get a chance to see any of these students, please take a look at the worlds they created. Not only did they base their world on real-life aspects of cities, but they also added their own imaginative solutions to the difficulties that cities are currently facing.

When it came to coding, it was evident that the students understood how to use 'Non-Playable Characters' (NPCs), Coding Blocks, Command Blocks, and Text Coding. The students were able to use these tools effectively to build simple structures and then enhance the buildings even further by using the materials they had in their inventory.

We did encounter some flight issues, but the 15 students who participated in this competition were resilient and produced fantastic worlds. Both Mrs. Lorentz and I were blown away by how incredible they were. The level of team participation, collaboration, maturity, dedication, perseverance, ingenuity, and presentation skills was truly impressive. Well done to all the BSG teams; you were amazing, and we could not have asked for anything more from you. Keep on CODING!
