Letter from the Head of Primary - 29th January

Whilst the latter end of this week has been a little disjointed with the closure of our school, we fortunately made up for it earlier in the week, with lots of things going on in the Primary school.

Tuesday in particular was a busy day with Year 1 getting together for a talk from one of our parents about holidays from the past. This links to their new topic where the students are finding out all about holidays; what people used to do for their holidays a long, long time ago right up to the present day and the holidays that we all go on now.

Year 5 also had a very busy Tuesday. In the morning, the students presented their learning of their ‘The Great, The Bold and The Brave’ topic to their parents. The Year 5 corridor was turned into a museum and the students and staff dressed up in keeping with the theme. Lots of our Year 5 parents came to visit the exhibition of learning and the students certainly were experts in explaining what they had learnt in a clear and concise manner.

Later that day, the Year 5s also began their new topic ‘Being Human’ and welcomed into school some experts who talked to the children about the importance of keeping healthy and looking after their bodies.

Of course, on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week we hosted our spring term Academic Review Evenings and it was great to see many of our parents come into school to meet with their children’s teachers and discuss the progress they have been making at school. Our aim in hosting these evenings early on in the spring term is for parents to have a good understanding of the next steps of their child’s learning and what they can do to support them make further progress.

Whilst our learning has been halted yesterday and today, we have made sure that our Primary students have some additional homework and this was emailed to all parents on Wednesday evening.

We look forward to seeing the children back at school on Monday!

Best wishes,

Lisa Passante

Head of Primary
