Following qualifying as a nursery nurse in 2004 I trained to be a teacher with the specialist area of Advanced Study of Early Years at Bradford College, graduating in 2008. Since this time, I have taught across the Early Years and Key Stage One age range in Spain, three years in Madrid and three years in Palma de Mallorca. I have taught a large range of international pupils, some who arrived at school with limited or no English.
Teaching was something I always wanted to do. I used to play ‘teachers’ with my older brother, me being the teacher! An important thing I have learnt about being an Early Years teacher is you must never underestimate the capabilities of a young child. Outside of school, I thoroughly enjoying reading, travelling, eating out, cinema, sharing languages and walking. Beijing is a fantastic place to meet people from so many backgrounds with so many delightful places to see and things to do.
