BSB SANLITUN EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS) CURRICULUM

At our British Primary and Early Years school in Sanlitun, Chaoyang District, our youngest children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Our play-based preschool programme develops the skills, knowledge, and understanding our students need to thrive both now and when they move into Primary.

THE BSB SANLITUN EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standard for the learning, development, and care of children up to the age of five. Our British EYFS curriculum for early years children develops early knowledge and skills, and nurtures emotional, social, and physical growth.

At this formative stage in their education, children are still learning to play, explore, create, and think critically. To focus their progress, our highly trained teachers engage them in activities shaped by the seven EYFS areas of learning and development.
The seven EYFS areas:
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
  • Communication and Language.
  • Physical Development.
  • Literacy.
  • Mathematics.
  • Understanding the World.
  • Expressive Arts and Design.

TIME TO LEARN AND PLAY

At our Primary and Early Years preschool in Sanlitun, Chaoyang District, we help our students to develop their skills and personalities, grow in confidence, and create lasting bonds with peers and teachers – setting them up for a successful education.

The EYFS curriculum encourages our little ones to learn through play, whether that’s in our open play areas, which are specially designed to stimulate experiential learning, or our dedicated classrooms. It’s important that our students have fun – both in and beyond the classroom. We also know that young children need well-structured downtime to recharge before and after learning.

A PERSONALISED APPROACH TO LEARNING

We treat every child as an individual at our British Primary and Early Years preschool. We note how an individual learns best and personalise their education to suit. We recognise that every child is different but should be treated equally, too. This establishes a method for learning that can last a lifetime – one that will have a positive effect on academic results in later life.

In and beyond the classroom, your child's teacher will plan personalised and inspiring experiences that nurture their interests and ensure they hit the seven EYFS curriculum milestones. In the spirit of true teacher-child collaboration, your child will shape the activities they want to take part in, too. This gives them control and ownership, and fully engages them in learning.
