Libby Henderson

Year 2 Elephants Class Teacher, 'Be Ambitious' Leader

In 2003 I graduated from Liverpool Hope University College with a Bachelor of Education degree, specialising in Art. From there I completed my NQT year at Crane Park Primary School in Hanworth, Middlesex as an Early Years teacher. I enjoyed working at this school for a further 7 years where I was able to develop as a teacher and gain experience within the Senior Leadership Team. I was the Early Years coordinator for 3 years where I led a fairly large team.

I eventually left this school to travel and volunteer in Africa for 9 months. While here I realised that I loved seeing the world, but also enjoyed being part of the community. It was whilst volunteering in Malawi that I decided to teach abroad. The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun seemed like the perfect choice as it was a country very new to me with an interesting history and culture and a big change from the UK. The school however, had the same friendly vibe and atmosphere that I enjoyed working in so much for so long.

This will be my fifth year at BSB Sanlitun, but my first year in Year 2. I look forward to using my experiences in Year 1 and Year 3 to help support and extend my new pupils.
