Staff Profile: Rebecca Kerry

Rebecca Kerry

Key Stage 1 Leader, Year 2 Monkeys Class Teacher, Curriculum Leader

I first completed my BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Northumbria University in 1995 and then went on to take my PGCE at Trinity College Carmarthen in Wales in 1998. I taught in the UK for 6 years, first as a KS1 and Early Years teacher at a school in London and then as a special needs teacher at a school for children with learning difficulties. This involved working with children on the autistic spectrum, with dyslexia and with Downs’ Syndrome.

In 2004, I wanted to move overseas and experience life in a different culture and so moved to Beijing where I began working at the British School of Beijing, Sanlitun, the same year the school opened. I have worked at Sanlitun for most of the 11 years I have lived in Beijing, only taking a couple of years off to stay at home with my children while they were young. I have taught Year 1, Year 2 and Nursery whilst working at BSB Sanlitun.

Beijing has become my home over the last 11 years and it has been a privilege to see the city change and grow over the years. I enjoy visiting old Beijing with my family, exploring the hutongs by bicycle and eating Beijing Duck. My family and I enjoy the long hot summers here in Beijing and spend as much time as possible exploring every part of Chaoyang Park.
