I currently lead teaching and learning and learning support across the school. I am an AFL specialist and also enjoy public speaking and providing training workshops. I have held a number of leadership roles in schools ranging from strategic planning and implementation, teaching and learning foci and pastoral care. Key responsibilities have included assessment and pupil progress, assessment for learning, pupil welfare, curriculum development, special educational needs, specific subject leadership, coaching and staff development. I have taught in a range of multi-cultural schools in London, Oxford and now Beijing.
I hold a PGCE teaching qualification, a BSc (Honours) in Technology Management and a Masters’ degree in Business (MBA) with a specialisation in Marketing. Before teaching I was a Marketing Director for a number of years. Although I enjoyed marketing very much, I always knew that my passion was in teaching. As an expat child, having spent most of my primary and teenage years in Hong Kong, I knew that eventually I would make my way back to the far-east. Choosing Beijing and The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun was an easy choice to make. It fulfilled my requirement to work with a professional, forward-thinking education provider in a vibrant, developing city with the flavour of old Hong Kong.
I live in Beijing with my two young children, Jack and Sophie, who attend the British School of Beijing, Sanlitun and enjoy every minute. We love travelling during our holiday times and much of our weekends are filled with Kung Fu, swimming lessons, music lessons, birthday parties and trips to the parks.
