Staff Profile: Petrina Booth

Petrina Booth

Year 5 Pelicans Class Teacher, Computing Subject Leader

I first began my journey into teaching at a local London college where I received an excellence award for my course work and was asked to speak to other trainee teachers about the process of qualifying. Through that course I gained the qualifications required to obtain a place at Roehampton University where I secured my Bachelor of Education degree with a music specialism. Studying was something I thoroughly enjoyed and I constantly strive to be as inspirational for the children I teach as my lecturers were for me.

I have experience in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and before my role as Computing Subject Leader, I had the privilege of working as a Music Coordinator which involved arranging a variety of musical events including taking choirs to sing at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

Teaching abroad was always a goal of mine since my journey back into education began so when a position at BSB Sanlitun became available and I saw what an outstanding opportunity this would be, there was no doubt in my mind that being a part of the BSB team was the perfect fit. Moving to Beijing is my third international move and one I am very happy I made.

Originally born in New Zealand, I come from a large family of which I am the youngest. My father inspired me to have an open minded love of travel and exploring the world; this has in turn provided me with the desire to grasp all opportunities that come my way with both hands.
