Street Smarts

Through our collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, students tackle real-world challenges across the subjects of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). The latest in school challenge asked students to consider the imminent reality of autonomous vehicles.

How can we redesign Chicago to address issues linked to fully autonomous cars? Students focused on a specific neighborhood and built 3D models to illustrate how they imagine it looking in the future. As part of the challenge, they also programmed robots and discussed the complex field of the moral machine linked to computers making decisions.
