Staff Profiles: Yanyan Wu

Examinations & Careers Officer

After completing my Bachelor degree in China in 2005, I went to the University of Groningen in the Netherlands to continue with my Master degree. I also studied in Uppsala University in Sweden for half a year and obtained a double-degree in Business Management from both universities. After graduation I worked for a bank in Amsterdam and Huawei Technologies from 2007 to 2009. I like the Netherlands very much and enjoyed my 5-year stay there.

In 2010, I came back to China and settled in Guangzhou with my husband. In March 2012, I joined the UK Exams Team at the British Council Guangzhou office. The team administers rich types of exams, ranging from school entrance exams for children to professional exams for adults, including globally standard exams such as Edexcel International GCSE/A level, CFA, ACCA, as well as school/university-specific exams.

I was the main contact person for all incoming exams enquiries, and coordinated the communication between candidates and exam boards. I was independently responsible for administering various types of exams, such as university exams, school entrance exams, BULATS, Delta Module I, etc. I also provided regular trainings and on-job coaching to Test Day Personnel, such as invigilators.

In 2016, after 4 years staying at the British Council, I felt it’s time to move on. I was quite excited to accept the job of Exams Officer & Career Advisor at BSG, as this post enables me to combine my specialization in exams management, international study and work experience to help the excellent students here in BSG to achieve their dreams.

When I’m not working, I spend most of my time with my family, especially with my boy who’s almost two years old. Another one of my great pleasures is to read books and magazines about interior design/decoration and experiment at my home. Last but not least, I like to eat delicious food from all over the world, especially Japanese and Korean food.
