Staff Profile: Ms. K. Lau

Ms. K. Lau

Mandarin Teacher & Windsor House Tutor

Ms. Kim Lau gained a degree in Education from the Hong Kong Institute of Education and she has a Masters degree in Education. She studied Modern Chinese Literature at Beijing Normal University. Before joining NAIS, Ms. Lau taught in two international schools in Hong Kong for over 14 years covering IGCSEs and the IB Diploma.

I have taught IGCSE and GCSE courses as well as the IB Diploma and results have been excellent. This includes the Cambridge International Examinations IGCSE Chinese, as a first and second language,  Edexcel GCSE in Chinese  and the IB Chinese Mandarin Language A, as well as the IB Mandarin Ab Initio examination courses. I am currently an IB Language A examiner.

I have gained a great deal of experience in how to deliver effective and challenging courses. I am glad that through teaching my native language I have been given the opportunity to inspire and be inspired by my students. I am fortunate to be employed in a job I love, and see each new day as a challenge and opportunity to improve my teaching. I like my classroom to have a positive and structured environment, where interactive teaching and learning can take place. Most of my pupils would say I am a caring and passionate teacher!

I have a passion for languages so I enjoy reading in English and Chinese. I enjoy cycling, table tennis, badminton and swimming. I also like hiking where I can enjoy the beautiful countryside close to my home.
