Staff Profile: Miss N. Speirs

Miss N. Speirs

Art Teacher

Miss Speirs joins NAIS from The International School of Brescia, Italy, where she has been teaching Grade 5 students.  Prior to this she worked for 7 years as an Art and Design Specialist Teacher. She graduated from the University of Paisley, Scotland, in 2002, with a BEd (Hons). As a primary Art and Design Specialist, she travelled around 11 different schools, throughout South West Scotland, teaching students to develop their creativity.

I have had a varied career in the 14 years since I graduated. Other than teaching students from nursery to teens and every age group in between, I have also worked as an Active Schools Coordinator, a Drama facilitator and an Outward Bound instructor.
I have completed 2 half marathons and several 10k races. I try to get out and run at least a couple of times a week, but more recently, I have started to enjoy riding my bike again, after years out of the saddle.  Before moving to Italy, I was a DJ for local community radio on the Jazz hour.  My passion for jazz music doesn’t end there, as I am also a keen singer, performing my favourite songs at festivals and open mic evenings.
