Our Learning Journey

Well done to all the children in Nursery for a fantastic trip to Polliwogs. We had a great time climbing and sliding with our friends. They all behaved amazingly and were a credit to the school. Well done children.

This week in Phonics, children have been developing an awareness of sounds made with instruments and noise makers. We loved taking it in turns to guess the hidden instrument. We continued to practise counting out different beats using the shakers and bells.

The children have settled back into school really well after the half term break. We have enjoyed listening to recounts of the holidays and Halloween events.

This week we have begun Phase 1 of our Phonics lessons. Children have been listening carefully to sounds and rhythms and practised counting out beats. Over this term, we will focus on skills in hearing initial sounds and blending techniques.

Mandarin

This week, nursery children started to learn words about home including “房间” (room), “客厅” (living room), “饭厅” (dining room) and “卧室” (bedroom). In class, we also did a show and tell about ‘My house’. Please refer to the link for the flashcards containing vocabulary words and key grammar structure.

Physical Education

This week the children have been learning to take turns which they have been doing through relay games and co-ordination skills. In swimming the children have been introduced to backstroke. Unfortunately, some lessons were called off due to weather.

Music

In Music this week, your children have continued to explore pitch and the difference between pitch and rhythm. They also accompanied their favourite songs playing shakers and learned a new song with movement and actions.

Continuing Our Learning Journey at Home

This week we would love to see some photos of your child cooking/baking. Talk to them about each step of the recipe and let them have a go at weighing out ingredients!
