Our Learning Journey

Our focus this week has been on numbers. In small groups, children have been practising number formation. The children enjoy using the program ‘Ten Town’ to help remember how to move their pencil. Please find attached a PowerPoint of the characters and rhymes for you to try at home.

In NFD, some children have enjoyed designing and making outfits for the soft toys and dolls. We then had our own fashion show and tell.

Congratulations NFD, you have filled another jar of bees! We are looking forward to celebrating with a teddy bear’s picnic next week. Children are invited to bring their teddy and a special snack to eat at break time on Wednesday 24th May. If you send in something for the children to share, please make sure all the ingredients are clearly labelled.

This week, we revised some previous topics, including My toys, My Favourite Food and Four Seasons. We played card games, puzzles and engaged in other hands on activities to consolidate our learning.

Physical Education

This week, in PE the children have been learning to jump and land appropriately with control. In Swimming, some children have made success with putting their faces in the water whilst others are starting to use correct arm pull technique in freestyle.

Following up on our lesson about rhythm (short and long) your children have started to understand notation. They have practiced developing their own rhythmic motif like Beethoven did for the 5th symphony (Allegro). They have also practiced their rhythmic recognition and dictation responding to simple rhythms being played and rearranging pictures of short and long animals accordingly.

Continuing Our Learning Journey at Home

We have been looking at numbers and which are smaller and larger.

Can you look at your phone number? Which number is the smallest? Which is the biggest? Can you put the numbers in order from smallest to largest? You could also try with our school phone number 6775 7664.
