Our Learning Journey

This week Nursery have enjoyed learning about the Chinese New Year story. Lots of their painting, building and role play reflected parts of the story. They were excited to find out their zodiac animals were either a dragon or a snake.

In Maths this week, we have been exploring colour and creating repeating patterns. We have been thinking about different ways to record our work, for example, whiteboards or drawing pictures of our construction models.

Mandarin

This week, our Nursery children have been focusing on the topic of ‘My Day’. They have learned to say “洗脸” (wash face), “刷牙” (brush teeth), “吃饭” (eat) “睡觉” (sleep) and “上学” (go to school). They also learned to sing along to a Chinese song related to the topic. Please refer to the link for the flashcards containing vocabulary words. https://quizlet.com/_2zvz25

Physical Education

This week the children have been introduced to jumping with two feet, they have been learning to swing their arms back to propel them further. Unfortunately, swimming could not go ahead this week due to the weather.

Music

In Music this week your children have been singing and playing their favourite songs with actions and transitioning into movement keeping a steady beat whilst singing or playing their instruments. They have also practiced singing intervals in pitch, whilst learning the difference between skipping notes (arpeggio), and singing stepwise (scale).

Continuing Our Learning Journey at Home

As it is Chinese New Year, we are not sending homework this week. Please enjoy the break and the festivities.
