Our Learning Journey

Welcome back after our Chinese New Year break. It was wonderful to hear about all of the children's adventures.

This week, Nursery have been focusing on developing their pencil grip and securing the formation of the numbers zero, one and two. We have been comparing these numbers and deciding which numeral carries a higher or lower value.

The children enjoyed our first specialist iPad lesson. They have used Phonics software to consolidate the sounds that we have learned so far. We are excited to extend children’s learning by using technology.

This week, Nursery children started to learn Mandarin words for clothing and getting dressed. They have learned to say “穿衣服” (get dressed), “衣服” (clothes), and “鞋子” (shoes). They have also learned how to use the sentence pattern “我会 ……” (I can…).

Physical Education

This week the children have been continuing to learn to jump with two feet. They are now focusing on jumping for height rather than distance.

NFD did not have PE this week because of the Chinese New Year holiday.

Apart from singing and playing their favourite songs with actions, your children have continued to practising to be able to sing intervals in pitch, whilst learning the difference between skipping notes (arpeggio), or singing stepwise (scale).

NFD missed Music due to the CNY holiday.

Continuing Our Learning Journey at Home

So far the children have been introduced to the sounds “s” “a” “t” during our phonics sessions. They have really enjoyed sharing the different names and objects that these sounds begin with. We would like to extend this by sending the children on a sound hunt this weekend. You could draw pictures, take photos or parents make a list of the words they come across beginning with s, a  and t.
