Our Learning Journey

The children have settled back into school really well after the half term break. We have enjoyed listening to recounts of the holidays and Halloween events.

This week we have begun Phase 1 of our Phonics lessons. Children have been listening carefully to sounds and rhythms and practised counting out beats. Over this term we will focus on skills in hearing initial sounds and blending techniques.

This week, the students have focused on learning the topic ‘my neighbourhood’. Pupils learnt how to say some keywords such as “家” (home), “房子”(house), “医院” (hospital), “公交车站” (bus station).

Physical Education

This week the children have been learning how to collect and throw balls in a certain direction, whilst exploring how they can gain more distance with different balls. In swimming the children have been recapping on the leg kick action with some children moving on to reach and pull techniques.

In Music this week, your children have continued to explore pitch and the difference between high pitch and low pitch. Singing their highest and lowest notes and experimenting with their voices. They were able to recognise variations in pitch whilst listening to a string instrument. They also accompanied their favourite songs playing shakers.

Continuing Our Learning Journey at Home

We would like you to draw a picture of your favourite book character. We will share them in class and display them in our reading corner.
