Our Learning Journey

This week we have been assessing the children on their knowledge of letters. We have been looking at different letters around the school environment and enjoyed digging for different stone letters in the sand and soil.

We have also been focusing on the children’s physical development. We went on a walk around the school to encourage children to use alternate feet when going up and down stairs and took part in an obstacle course!

Mandarin

This week, nursery students have been learning how to say “I am a boy /a girl.” Additionally, they started to learn key vocabulary of family members, such as “爸爸” (Dad), “妈妈” (Mum), “爷爷” (Grandpa) and “奶奶 “(Granny).

Physical Education

This week in PE the children have been using a range of balls and discovering what each one does differently. This is helping to improve their hand-eye coordination to hit their overall objective of catching a large ball.  In Swimming the children have been using shark fins to help improve buoyancy and core strength, as well as improving their kicking leg action.

Music

In Music this week, your children have practised playing a percussion instrument, keeping a fast or slow beat as an accompaniment whilst singing. They have continued to explore rhythm and beat and enjoyed following the actions for the song we are the dinosaurs.

Continuing Our Learning Journey at Home

As we have been looking at different sounds this week, we would like the children to go on a sound hunt at home!  You can make a list, draw a picture, take photos or record the different sounds they spot to share in class next week.

The children might also enjoy this game!
