Our Learning Journey

It's been a week of Christmas magic! The children were real superstars on stage, singing and speaking with confidence and smiles. We are so proud of all the children and their hard work and would like to thank you once again for providing fantastic costumes and helping the children to learn their lines.

Our Literacy this week has focused on reading stories with a Christmas theme. We particularly liked the story 'Pete Saves Christmas' and 'How Many Sleeps Till Christmas?’. The Children have been busy in Santa's workshop writing letters to Santa's, wrapping presents and writing labels and cards for their friends.

In Mathematics we have been playing a lot of games on the interactive whiteboard; counting buttons onto snowmen, ordering numbers to twenty on baubles and estimating the height of Santa and his elves.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed being creative, making Christmas cards and decorations. Glitter has been a running theme throughout the Department this week!

We hope that you have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you all back in the New Year.

The children's learning has been linked to the festive spirit of Christmas this week and the children have learned a lot of new vocabulary. They have learnt how to say Santa Clause, bauble and present in Mandarin. The children have also enjoyed singing 'We wish you a merry Christmas' in Mandarin as well as joining in with creative activities.

Physical Education

This week the children have been enjoying a lesson of exploring the gymnastic equipment and Christmas songs as a treat for the hard work they have put into PE and their Christmas plays this year. In swimming, for those that swam, the children have also played small games to end the year with confidence in the water.

In Music this week, your children have explored the world of timbre. They have learned how sound effects can be used in a story to create an atmosphere.

Continuing Our Learning Journey at Home

Please see the holiday pack to support your child's learning over the holidays. Being so young the children can quickly forget what they have been taught, if you can spare 5 minutes a day to practise this will be a great help.
