    DCIS Proms 2016

16th December 2016

We have finished off our work from last week and have then been doing some more Christmassy themed work. This has included a letter to Santa trying to use all of the skills we have learned over the course of this term.

We have been using the skills we have developed this term to solve Christmassy themed problems. These have included using our addition and subtraction skills and thinking about how to solve a problem systematically.

Project Work

This week we have been exploring different parts of a circuit and even made our own switches. We then thought about what we could create which would include a light. We decided to build something festive and included a circuit in it.

This week the students were revising 2D shapes. They practised asking and answering questions about shapes. The students revised the key vocabulary and sentence structures by discussing and referring to objects of different shapes around them. They worked on a project to make Christmas art and crafts such as Christmas tree and snowman using the 2D shapes. Below is a link for revision: https://quizlet.com/_2qsirm

As a reward for all their hard work this term, for our last lesson before Christmas, pupils have been playing Christmas games on abcya.com

Physical Education

This week the target was a set of cricket stumps. Teams had to try and hit their wicket as many times as possible in 3 minutes.

Unfortunately we were unable to have our music lesson this week as we were having our Christmas party.

Over the holidays there will be no formal homework set. However, we would love to hear about what the children have been up to in the break so if they would like to keep a diary or prepare something to say upon their return to school then that would be great.
