Staff Profile: Jonathan Cotterill

Jonathan Cotterill

Subject Leader English and 10C Form Tutor

Jonathan holds an MA (Hons) in Philosophy from the University of St. Andrews and an MSc in Literature and Modernity from the University of Edinburgh. He went on to complete a PGCE in Secondary English at the University of Bath. He is currently studying for his Executive Masters in International Education at King’s College, London through Nord Anglia University.  




Jonathan began teaching after several years working as a support worker for homelessness charities in the UK. Having gained valuable experience as an educator through volunteer placements in Romania, Ghana and Uganda, Jonathan began his professional teaching career in the UK, at an outstanding school near Bath.

Jonathan’s first international role was in Mexico City, where, as second in department, he taught both the IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Following this, he secured a position at an outstanding international school in Dubai before moving to Singapore. Jonathan has experience teaching a range of additional subjects including Philosophy, Critical Thinking and Theory of Knowledge.

With a passion for travelling and experiencing diverse cultures, Jonathan joined Dover Court International School in 2015, and hopes to further explore South East Asia whilst working here. In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys literature, film, art, theatre and live music.
