Lorraine started teaching at Dover Court at the beginning of this academic year after teaching PE and Games in the UK.
Prior to that she was teaching in the private/independent preparatory schools in 1993 when she was appointed Head of Girls Games at Winchester House School. In 1995, she to become Head of Girls' Games at Swanbourne House School where she spent the next 18 years. Aside from overseeing the girls sport, she was also I/C of cross-country, athletics & swimming plus coaching 1st & 2nd V11 hockey, 1st 1X rounders & U11 netball.
Swanbourne was especially successful on the hockey pitch , rounders pitches & athletics track.
Her father was stationed at RAF Tengah in Singapore when she was a young girl. It was this and having lived in several other countries around the world that made her look at teaching abroad. The Dover Court PE teaching position caught her eye and was quite excited to be offered the position.
She has a 19 year old son who lives in the UK a dog, Jake who lives with her here in Singapore.
She ran the London Marathon in 2006 and since then have completed many half marathons running for The RNLI (lifeboats) charity.
She has been learning ballroom dancing for the past 3 years which is a nice change from wearing trainers all the time. She has continued to dance since arriving in Singapore, thankfully with air con.
She loves cricket especially test matches (my phone ringtone is TMS) and she is a Brighton and Hove Albion supporter.
She has always swam (having learnt in Singapore) and represented her county as a young girl. She swims as often as possible now at her apartment.
In the past at school she has 'volunteered' for fashion shows, singing as part of the pop group 'Girls Aloud' as well as staff pantos & dressing up in costumes at Christmas party time.
She is looking forward to travelling to Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia and lots of other exotic sounding places.
