Primary Summer Concert

At BIS we have an amazing amount of talent throughout our School!  This was especially noticeable at our wonderful Primary Summer Music Concert. We had children from both KS1 and KS2 performing, playing lots of different instruments and singing too.

Our newly formed Primary Orchestra made up of students who study instruments in school gave us a wonderful performance of “If you’re happy and you know it.”  It certainly made us want to clap our hands! We also heard a beautiful piece from the ‘New World Symphony’ called “Going Home”.

The String Chamber Group entertained us with a range of violin pieces accompanied by young pianists, along with soloists on many different instruments.

Music is also very important in our ECA programme.  Some of our youngest children in the Ukulele group gave us a lovely rendition of ‘’Yellow Submarine’. Our Recorder Group showed their development by playing “London’s Burning” as a round and the Small Choir and Primary Band members joined forces to give us a fun rendition of “Do-Re-Mi” from ‘The Sound of Music.’

Our finale was the wonderful performance of “I have a Dream” sung in two parts by all the students in Years 6 and 7.  We all went out of the concert feeling very uplifted and awed by the talent we witnessed in this concert.

We must say a big ‘Thank you’ to our peripatetic music teachers who continue to encourage and inspire our young instrumentalists.  Well done to all involved!

Ms Carol Hawkins, Music Teacher
