Geography Online Competition

As you know, The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), set up by the United Nations member countries, have been running from 2000 to 2015, and have been the most successful global anti-poverty push in history. Highlights of the MDGs are that:

- Extreme poverty rate has been cut by 50%.

-  More girls are in school now than ever before.

- 17,000 fewer deaths of children per day since 1990.

- Maternal mortality has gone down by 45% since 1990.

On 25th September, 193 world leaders will adopt the Global Goals, a series of 17 ambitious goals to end poverty, fight inequality & injustice and tackle climate change for everyone by 2030.

As the theme of these new goals is Sustainability , we want you to send us a photograph as evidence of how you lead a sustainable life (i.e. good for the environment). Accompanying this photograph should be a short caption explaining how your action is good for planet Earth. Please email submissions to Mr Forster in the Geography department – jamesforster@bishanoi.com All entries will receive a house-point and the winner (to be decided by Mr Rowlands) will receive a special Geography certificate and a mystery prize.

In addition, don’t forget our other competitions that are running concurrently with the one mentioned above. We are looking for your ideas to be added to our special limited-edition SDG notice board in the Geography corridor, as well as artifacts to be put in our time capsule! For more information on these competitions pay attention to the daily notices in tutor time.
