Mr Christopher Short Weekly Update 22.01.2016

The big news this week was our authorisation to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme from August 2016. As we have been saying since we started the process, we have always been confident of gaining authorisation as we have put a robust preparation programme in place but we can’t, of course, fully celebrate until we receive the official notification which we now have. Ms Vaughan has led the process over the last 18 months and has done an excellent job of supporting staff in their hard work to develop programmes. Mr O’Reilly, Mr Toner and all subject leaders have played a really important role in providing the evidence to the IB that we are ready to teach the course next academic year.

Our staff training on Saturday fits well with our new Year 12 and 13 curriculum and its all about building students ability to learn. We’re looking forward to a stimulating and enjoyable afternoon with Guy Claxton.

Mock examinations have continued this week. The exams are quite concentrated so it gives the students an opportunity to practise all aspects of their exam preparation including time management. We look forward to hearing of their success as the results are published before Tet.

Mr Christopher Short, Head of Secondary
