Day 1 : 11/10/2016
Following a thoroughly enjoyable first day of action on our island on the lake at Hoa Binh, we are on our way to Mai Chau to our homestay. Today's activities challenged our students in different ways. From the decoding and orienteering skills, to the archery in which there was some exceptional shooting and a number of golds. A particular highlight was the kayaking where all the students had a lot of fun working together, even if some of them did end up in the Lake!
Day 2: 12/10/2016
After another hectic day of adventuring we are now enjoying a well earned rest by the pool, enjoying the majestic view. The morning was spent exploring the trails of Mai Chau by mountain bike, it was certainly fast and furious. While this was taking place the others were doing a marvellous job cooking our delicious lunch. In the afternoon we moved down the road to our new accommodation and the afternoon was spent having some fun in the pool or developing our orienteering and problem solving skills with our geocaching activity.
Day 3 : 13/10/2016
Today was the last full day of our trip and it didn't disappoint. The day started eating breakfast Surrounded by the sea of green in the rice fields of Mai Chau. We then set off on a grueling 10km hike with our students overcame with impressive fortitude, even if some people need a little nap at lunch. In the afternoon we mounted up on Mai Chau's traditional mode of transport and headed to the local secondary school to meet the staff and teachers. We were warmly welcomed and treated to some wonderful performances by the students of the local school. The rest of the visit was spent playing games with the local children, the dodgeball was a really competitive affair with the students from Hue house being particularly feisty. We have returned to the hotel and our students are unwinding in the pool before dinner and the evenings entertainment.
Just when we thought the fun was over, along comes an amazing barbecue! After tucking into the delicious food we commenced the evenings entertainment. Prizes were awarded for several activities during the week. With many different students emerging victorious, we also have a few personal awards to those we felt had represented the best of BIS during the week, through caring for their classmates or exceptional perseverance. Even after this there was more to come! We then had an incredible dance party, where I was enormously impressed by the moves of all our dancers, who danced almost until they dropped!
