Rehearsals for our upcoming Secondary School Production of West Side Story are in full swing! The cast and crew are working hard to ensure this ambitious production will be one to remember. The story is based on Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and set against the backdrop of New York. There will be two evening performances on Thursday 31st March and Friday 1st April – watch this space for further updates…

The Year 11 IGCSE Music Showcase Concert took place on the evening of Wednesday 11th February and we were delighted to welcome parents and students to this annual event. Each of the Year 11 students performed one solo and one ensemble piece and should be congratulated on some wonderful musical performances - Hop Long, Duy Minh, Vy Anh and Lam Phuong. The concert took place ahead of the IGCSE Music Performance exams. The students have also composed two pieces of music as part of their IGCSE course and will sit their final listening exam in June.

It was fantastic to see all of our Primary School children performing on stage at the recent International Day Assembly. Each class prepared music or a dance from a different country, including a Scottish song and Argentinian Tango! In Music lessons this term, the children are learning about Space. Year 5 have been studying The Planets Suite by Gustav Holst and are composing their own Music to represent the planet Jupiter.

It certainly has been a very busy year so far in the Performing Arts Department, and I look forward to welcoming you to our upcoming Musical events.
