Ms Sue Hill Weekly Update 6.5.2016

ENG

Dear Parents,

This has been a short week at school however a very exciting one for our Year 3 children as they were the very first to have a sleepover here at the BIS.

Yesterday, at 3pm all of the Year 3 children left the school and went home to start their preparation for the Year 3 Sleepover.  At 6pm our young adventurers returned to school carrying bags with pyjamas, pillows, sleeping bags, soap and, or course their toothbrush. The fun began straight away as children chose whether to take part in badminton, table tennis, football in the sports hall or games in the swimming pool.

By 7:30pm it was time to eat! Delicious pizzas had been delivered to our canteen and were ready for us to enjoy. Then it was time to prepare beds and get the best-dressed teddy bears ready. I left the children as they snuggled down in the library to watch a DVD before falling asleep. When I returned at 7am I was very happy to hear that many had had a good night’s sleep and the night had been uneventful.

A healthy British breakfast of scrambled eggs and baked beans, with toast and jam to finish, was prepared by the teachers and served to Year 3. I would like to congratulate our adventurers as they were super! Behaviour was fantastic and children showed respect to friends and teachers whilst having lots of fun. A big thank you goes to Mr. Holmes, Ms. Harper, Ms. Duyen and Ms. Anh who all slept over with the children and to Ms. Willson, Ms. Hop, Ms. Phuong and Mr. Wilcox for running all the fun games and activities last night. Thank you also to the many teachers who prepared and served breakfast: Ms. Elliott, Mr. Wild, Mr. Adams, Mrs. Rowlands, Ms. Tong and Ms. Hop. I think many of us will sleep well tonight!

Science Week

Every Friday morning, there is a buzz along the KS2 corridor as children try to answer Mr. Wild’s Science Challenge of the Week. A high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world around us. Science has changed our lives and we aim to encourage our learners to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. With this in mind, we are dedicating three days next week to Science!

Today you will have received a letter from Mr. Wild to invite you to join our Science Fair Share next Friday. Come and find out more about our curriculum by letting the children tell you what they have been learning at

10:45am on Friday 13th May
