    PE Teacher/ Head of Years 7-8

    Amy Wild

    Amy graduated from the University of Chester in 2007 with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science before moving to Cardiff, Wales to complete her PGCE in Secondary Physical Education. Amy began her teaching career at Copthall School in North London, UK. Here she spent 5 years, progressing to Head of Department within her 2nd year at the school. Amy joined us at BIS Hanoi in 2014 as a  Whole School Specialist for Physical Education and has now also taken on pastoral responsibility for the students in Years 7, 8 and 9. 

    Amy has a keen interest in all areas of sport and enjoys developing her own sports skills within her leisure time. She is also a very keen traveller and is looking forward to seeing more of Asia whilst she is based here in Hanoi

    Salome Airdrie

    Salome has been at the forefront in thinking of the development of sport and PE in the 21st century over the last 10 years. She had the responsibility for the development of girls’ sport within her previous schools and for developing strategic visions ensuring her schools were leading the way in school sport in Oman and Brunei. 

    Salome brings her vibrant energy and enthusiastic teaching style into the classroom, where she encourages students to perform to their best ability. Salome tries to ensure continuity and improvement in the quality of teaching and learning in all aspects of sport, developing individual, as well as team excellence. She strives to implement strategies to enhance an overall sporting culture. As a qualified award leader in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award for Young People she has been involved in the bronze and silver awards. Her other interests are scuba diving, hiking and travelling. Salome joined BIS Hanoi in August 2013.

    Mark Atkinson

    PE Teacher/ ECA Coordinator

    Mark Atkinson

    Since graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science and a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education at the University of Sunderland, Mark became a lecturer of Sports Science at Durham College.

    Mark’s International experience includes playing and coaching football in Ghana, and following that, he was Head of Physical Education and ECA Coordinator in Doha, Qatar. Mark helped raise the profile of Physical Education amongst girls, raising attainment and achieving high levels of success in a wide range of sports, including National Championships.


    Mark has a keen interest in researching the fields of sports psychology and athlete development and is the author of ‘Mental toughness and hardiness at different levels of football’. He is currently working towards a MA in Education with the University of Derby.
    In his spare time, Mark enjoys playing a variety of sports and plays guitar. He is also learning Vietnamese. Mark joined BIS Hanoi in August 2013.

    Daniel Langford

    PE Teacher

    Daniel Langford

    Daniel graduated from Brunel University in 2014 with a BSc in Secondary and Physical Education. He has since taught at both state and private schools within the UK as a Physical Education teacher. Whilst working at an Inner London school, his athletics team won borough and regional competitions and placed fourth in the English Schools Track and Field cup. He has also been involved with coaching the Buckinghamshire U16 and U18 football team and developed a Rugby programme at a school in Bedfordshire.  In his spare time, Daniel enjoys taking part in a variety of sports, including Rugby, Cricket, Skiing and American Football.
