Two Year-Old Programme

My teaching career this far has been wonderfully varied. I started out as a Learning Support Assistant in a London Prep school helping children with additional needs; my ambition to become a teacher sprung from this experience. I went on to teach in several beautiful schools in London and rural England before deciding to head overseas to an international school in Nairobi, Kenya.

I am thrilled about becoming part of the Early Years team at BISW. I believe that the first years a child spends in school are vitally important in creating a positive foundation for future learning. I am committed to creating a happy, nurturing and engaging environment in which every individual child may thrive. For me, school is a fun, varied, exciting and rewarding experience, so I do all I can to ensure that the children in my care feel the same way!

I am an adventurous spirit and try to make the most of every opportunity to explore the natural world. I love hiking and horse riding and am so looking forward to discovering all that Washington, DC and the surrounding countryside has to offer. I also like to involve myself in community-based projects and am keen to develop links with the wider community in DC.
I find sharing my interests with the children I teach hugely enjoyable. From the very youngest age, children can develop an understanding of the natural world and of their place within the community. I believe that this encourages them to appreciate and respect the natural world and one another and hope that they will eventually to go on to become active, responsible citizens.
