Daniel Holland

Head of Upper Primary; Year 5 Teacher

I decided to come to the British International School of Washington as I believe international schools offer children a unique education and give them the chance to thrive, academically and socially, with a diverse range of students.

I studied Primary Education for four years at the University of Brighton.  I spent the first five years of my teaching career in a large city school in Brighton where I became computing coordinator and supported the assessment of English across the school. For the past three years, as well as teaching, I have been a mentor to aspiring teachers from both Brighton and Sussex universities; guiding them through their professional placements and ensuring they are ready to enter the world of teaching as dedicated, passionate and professional staff.

The British International School of Washington is different to all other schools I have worked at because the strong relationships which are fostered between parents, children and staff ensure theere is a clear understanding of what needs to be done to ensure each child can achieve both academically and socially.

In my spare time I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to travel extensively around America and Europe.  I am excited to explore the surrounding states during the school holidays.
