I am a member of the Middle-Atlantic Chapter of the American Orff-Shulwerk Association (MAC-AOSA). As part of the Juilliard-Nord Anglia collaboration, I completed the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme Professional Development Workshop in August 2015. My primary instrument is voice and I have studied at George Mason University, The Levine School in D.C. and Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland. I currently study with Dr. Linda Allison, Head of Vocal Studies at American University, Washington, D.C.
Seeking to broaden my teaching experience, I taught abroad at the International School Hannover Region in Hannover, Germany. I had the privilege of being the Lower Primary Music Teacher and co-director of a musical. Upon returning to the United States, I taught Kindergarten (Year 1) through Fifth Grade (Year 6) as an Elementary General Music Teacher and Chorus Director with Fairfax County Public Schools, in Virginia from 2002-2012.
British International School of Washington is an exceptional learning community because of the highly skilled educators, dedicated staff and inquisitive students. Nord Anglia Education Schools are designed to promote student success by instructing pupils to think about learning and then to reflect upon what was learned.
There are many reasons why I enjoy working at BISW. The students are lovely, a delight to teach – and they love to sing and make music!
